Technical Overview

I've made significant progress implementing a modern PBR workflow and custom pipeline tools for this Source Engine environment.

Development Progress

  • Implemented custom PBR material pipeline
  • Created accurate pipe models using fSpy camera matching
  • Developed material validation and processing tools

Technical Implementation Details

Material Pipeline

Created an automated material processing workflow that:

  • Converts TIF source files to engine-ready TGA format
  • Combines metallic, roughness, and AO maps into single RGB texture
  • Automatically generates VTF files and VMT materials
  • Implements validation checks and error handling

Modeling Techniques

  • Camera-matched modeling using fSpy for accurate pipe placement
  • Custom geo-node based clumping system for surface detail
  • Reference-driven modeling workflow

Current Development Focus

  • Resolving decal flickering artifacts
  • Implementing stucco material transitions
  • Optimizing road marker decal system
  • Fine-tuning exposure and lighting
